ASPIS is a first-person horror story set in an alternate 1987 Soviet Union, where an engineer named Andrey enters a machine built to predict history. This wiki maps the Institute of Cybernetics, the PEP-01 device, the Guardian chases and both endings, without inventing numbers the game never gives you.

What is ASPIS?
ASPIS is Dream Wire Games' first-person horror title with a heavy narrative spine, made over roughly six years of solo development. The title stands for Autonomous System for Predicting Historical Events, and the fiction does not treat that name as decoration: the machine is a Soviet research project that was supposed to model the past and instead opened a route into places its designers never planned for.
PEP-01 and Energy X
The core device: capture X-spheres, move Energy X into machinery and open astral windows between layers of reality.
The Guardian Cannot Be Killed
Chases are built around movement, doors and line of sight. Shooting the Guardian is explicitly not the answer.
OGAS Terminals
The terminal network carries records, context and some puzzle state. It was rebuilt as one unified interface before launch.
One Choice, Two Endings
A single late decision resolves the story. Achievement text confirms Let Go and World on Fire as the two branches.
The story starts in 1987 at the Institute of Cybernetics. Six volunteers are connected to the system and none of them wakes up. Andrey, an engineer who signed up hoping to see his late wife Anna and his daughter Liza again, is the one whose perspective you follow as he works through distorted facilities, documents, OGAS terminals and worlds that predate the experiment.

Confirmed Steam Achievements
These names and unlock lines come from the public Steam achievement list. Nine are listed here because their official text was captured during research; the full list contains twelve, and any omission means we did not verify the wording rather than that the achievement does not exist.
Where the Story Goes
ASPIS moves through recognisable Soviet spaces and then through places that should not exist. These are the location names used by official material, not invented chapter numbers.
Prologue
The experiment briefing and the first controlled environment. This is where your control and brightness habits are set for the rest of the run.
Institute of Cybernetics
Abandoned laboratories, records, OGAS terminals and the documents that explain the six-volunteer setup. Most early reading lives here.
KGB Building
A combination lock sits here, and one achievement asks you to solve it inside ninety seconds. Search the rooms before touching the mechanism.
Tunnels
The underground route where Evgeny Kotov can be found. Achievement text confirms the location; official material does not describe his fate.
The Red World
The red corridor and the red world carry the heaviest encounters and the Devil sequence. Treat every open sightline as a chase risk.
The Island at Lukomorye
The island branch tied to the Slavic-mythology layer the developer teases in gallery captions. The game stops short of explaining it.
The Final Choice
One decision closes the story and routes you into one of the two endings. Save nothing for a third branch: official material confirms only two.
Who Is Who Inside the System
Official material names only a handful of characters and leaves most motivations partial. This table separates what the store page, the developer site and achievement text actually confirm.
PEP-01 and the Puzzle Layer
The device is the one system the whole puzzle design hangs on. These five pieces are the vocabulary you will reuse in every later room.
Energy X
Captured and transferred by the PEP-01. Official text describes using it to power machinery and change the state of mechanisms.
X-Spheres
The pickups the device collects. A demo patch changed capture from holding a button to a single press, so old videos may look different.
Astral Windows
Openings between layers of reality. Anything visible but unreachable in one layer can usually be taken from another.
OGAS Terminals
Both a story delivery system and a puzzle surface. The developer rebuilt the terminal interface as one unified system before launch.
Spatial Puzzles
The pattern is relocation rather than code guessing: move the object, change layers, then take the path that just opened.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does ASPIS stand for?+
The developer's own site gives the full name as Autonomous System for Predicting Historical Events. In the fiction it is a Soviet research machine built to model the past. The game is also written as АСПИС in Russian. Official material does not expand the acronym any further, so any other interpretation you see online is fan speculation rather than a documented second meaning.
Does ASPIS have manual saving?+
Official material does not describe a save menu. Players on the Steam forums report that the pause menu has no save option and that autosave timing is not explained, so treat the game as checkpoint-driven until the developer documents otherwise. If you are testing a route or an achievement, finish a story beat before closing the game rather than assuming you can reload a manual slot.
How does the PEP-01 actually work?+
The PEP-01 captures X-spheres, interacts with Energy X and opens astral windows between layers of reality. In practice you relocate energy or objects, change which layer you are standing in, and then take a path that only exists from the other side. The game is built around spatial relocation, not code guessing, so look for what you can see but cannot reach before hunting for a keypad.
Can you kill the Guardian?+
No. Official text says the Guardian cannot simply be shot, and the chase design is about keeping distance, breaking line of sight and using doors and corners. Ammunition is scarce and found in the environment, so spending it on the Guardian is a waste. Players report that hiding does not always break pursuit, so keep moving until the encounter music and behaviour actually change.
How many endings are there?+
Two. Official material describes one choice and two endings, and the achievement list names the branches as Let Go and World on Fire. There is no announced third, secret or post-credits ending. Because both achievements depend on the same final decision, you cannot earn the pair in a single run unless you replay the closing section and choose the other option.
Are the achievements missable?+
Several are tied to specific moments. I Will Stay Here is a hidden flag that asks you to remain and listen to Maria right after your first meeting, and the ending pair requires two different final choices. Story achievements such as Management Approves unlock automatically if you finish the prologue and re-enter the ASPIS system, so the main risk is walking past optional scenes rather than failing a skill check.
Where do patch notes come from?+
The Steam announcement feed and the developer's Telegram channel are the two official sources. ASPIS launched on October 23, 2026, and the first weeks are likely to bring technical fixes, so a dated updates page is more reliable than a static guide. If a claim appears only in a Steam forum thread, this wiki labels it as a player report rather than a confirmed patch note.
